Immerse yourself in Black Literary Brilliance

Writers on the Vineyard is a summer cultural experience that honors Black literary brilliance through immersive events, intimate conversations, and curated experiences in Martha's Vineyard. We gather bestselling authors, tastemakers, and book industry influencers in Oak Bluffs to celebrate storytelling, heritage, and community.

The Vision

In 2019, four author friends (Victoria Christopher Murray, ReShonda Tate, Tiffany L. Warrren and Renee Flagler) ventured to Martha’s Vineyard for a week of relaxation, restoration, and rejuvenation. It became their annual destination to discuss the state of the Black literary industry, complete their current and upcoming works, connect with readers, and find inspiration.

Over the years, many of their extended writer and reader community have expressed the desire to share in this beautiful literary sisterhood. Writers on the Vineyard week was born of a desire to share the wonderful achievements of Black literary icons with the tastemakers who descend upon the Vineyard in August, and to provide insider industry access to new voices in Black literature.

The Writer's Table

Curated by Vineyard literary influencer Maleta Wilson, The Writer’s Table is an intimate literary gathering where readers commune with authors over light fare and thoughtful conversation. Evoking the spirit of Le Festin des Lettres (The Feast of Letters), this elegant affair brings together writers from a variety of genres, offering a rare opportunity to savor stories, ask questions and connect of a shared passion for books.
